Common Dolphin varies so much, that throughout time, no less then 20 species has been described - but untill recently they were all gathered in one very varied specie. There are two types, one long-beaked and one short-beaked - who just recently were elevated into two different species.

Behaviour
Common dolphins are usually seen in large pods. Several of the pods animals surfaces at the same time. The pods varies in size depending on season and the size of it. Fast swimmers and very acrobatic. Can be submerged up to 8 minutes, but are usually down in periods between 10 seconds and 2 minutes. Can be seen among other dolphins in fouragingareas and in the Eastern Pacific among tuna fish.
