Dear Mr. Dolfin,i have read your comment about captive dolphins and i find it appaling. quote "Those abusement park owners see dollar signs everytime a calf is born. Even if it doesn't survive, there's always a big boost to their profits for the brief period of time it IS alive. So terribly" sad...life, without the possibility for parole. -Dolfin" Who do you think your are? I live at in COffs Harbour, the location of the Pet Porpoise Pool, nearly all of the dolphins that have been there have been rescued because if they were left in the wild, they would die. Take Calamity for example, just 6 weeks ago she had her first calf, but 10 years ago she was on the brink of death, if it wasn't for the Pet Porpoie Pool, there would be no baby dolphin. PLease think before you write next time. Anon

Who do I think I are? Who taught you the english language?
Obviously, you're of the mentality that life in captivity is somehow a more proud and beneficial
existence for a cetacean than to let nature take its course. I do not share that point of view. To
rescue when it's well known that there will be no possibility of rehabilitation and eventual release is
nothing more than a 'back door' for dolphinariums to increase the head count of their 'property'.
Perhaps you should stop thinking about yourself and start thinking from a more humane perspective. I
don't see any naturally occurring concrete and acrylic tanks out there in the ocean.. individuals such
as yourself apparently do since you feel that living in one is perfectly adequate for the health and
happiness of a cetacean. Good day, Twit. -Dolfin

HI, neat site, I was wondering about the difference between the dolfin and the popoise?.. see in 1971 at blacks beach in S.D. CA. MY friend and i found a (what i thought) was a dolfin, and we didn't want the scientist to get a hold of it so , which somebody had gone after. we pushed back out into the ocean and inspected it and found no cuts a abnormal conditions, we discussed it and both of us knew that sometimes this fish? would beach them selves out of grief, my friend and i started massageing it and talking incouraging words. We then decided to see if he or she would swim, and pushed out byond the waves and it started to move, so there was my friend and myself holding on to each side fin and one hand on the dorsal. the dolfin started swimming, kind of lunging along and it was incrdible , the three of us moving as one, all of us naked, Blacks beach was known to be a nude beach, anyway that grat fish started out to sea and Dave and i holding on and lokking at each other in awe, finally i sterted to get nervous about gettig back and yelled to Dave that i wqas dropping off, I did and as i back paddled back to the beach Dave held on for some minutes more and then he doped off also, best time ever.

We have just signed a petition on the Internet - Help close captive dolphin facilities in Sharm el Sheikh. You can find the details at www.petitionthem.com/default.asp?sect=detail&pet=1677.
See if you would like to support the cause, we think it is worthwhile. You may also see other petitions at the site you want to support, or you may want to start your own petition - the service is totally free.

Hello, thank you for your lovely site. Its great. I am from Zimbabwe in Africa and have just moved to Phoenix Arizona. For the last two years I have worked at a game park called Bally Vaughn and been fortunate enough to help hand rear lion, leopard and cheetah cubs. I fed and looked after many animals including caracyls. It was beautiful there and I miss it. I would love to help at Out of Africa if you have anything for me to do. I just want to work with animals but ultimately I would love to tag and research wild dolphins. I hope to go to College and do a degree in Marine Biology. I am currently at Mountain Pointe High School in Grade 11. Thank you again and hope to hear from you. Sascha Blumears

I would love to swim with dolphins somewhere - would like to do tagging and research some day. I am 16 years old and go to Mountain Pointe High School. Please could you let me know how to maybe get a job with Out of Africa during the weekends or where I can help with dolphins during holidays etc. Thank you.

Hi, my name is Gina.Iam currently working on a arguementive research
paper of 24 pages on Dolphins. My thesis states free or captive? I need
much more information on Dolphins. I feel that the capture of dolphins is
a violent procedure and the lucky ones back. Using them to entertain the
public like Seaworld is inhumain and is only done for the billions of
dollars made each year by certain entertainment companies. I found your
site refreshing and informive. Do you have any more field studies on the
captivity of Dolphins? Sincerely, Gina Whitfield :)

Dolphins are beautiful creatures and I welcome any initiative which
seeks to protect them in their home environment and keep them from
unnatural captivity.

Dolphins are one of my favorite animals, they match up with whales. I
think that they are one of the most beautiful animals in existance and
that the way some people are treating them is just wrong and we should do
are best to stop those awful people. I am a 13 year old and i am
searching to be a Marine biologist, if there is anybody who could help me
in this career please e-mail me. Thank you. And if anybody knows of sites
that may also help, i would greatly appreciate it if you would tell me.

Dear friend,
We at International Dolphin Watch are appalled at the recent news that 400 dolphins have been slaughtered by European fishing vessels and washed up on French beaches. Such carnage has not been seen in this region before, and despite assurances from government that the situation will be tackled, the slaughter goes on unabated. It has been estimated that the whole dolphin population in the north Atlantic could be wiped put within 20 years.
We need your help with our "Crusade" to "Safeguard the Seas" which is to be launched on April 6th 2000.
Please encourage your visitors to join with us in protest at http://www.idw.org/crusade.htm
Thankyou in anticipation of your help.

I am an Kindergarten teacher doing my best to teach my kiddos about
creatures that are in the oceans. Those that are the most common to a 5yr
old who has never seen it in actuality. Was hoping to find activities to
do with them. We are a hands on group.I have been sitting tring to find
something I can use to teach them about these fascinating animals. Not
meeting success. guess I don't know where to look. your page is great for
me for info. Thanks for having it! Thanks, Becky in arkansas

Dolphins are amazing mammals. We should all be so free and happy as the dolphins that are living in the wild. Thank you for creating this site where people, who love but have no access to real info about these beautiful creatures, can turn.
