Below are links to the dolphins that I have the honor to call friend. What does it take to be a friend to a dolphin you ask? Well, to me, it is being accepted as a member of their transient pod. Meaning, you get raked, you get call sigs whistled at you, you get nuzzled, you get looked at for long periods of time. All this goes into a relationship being formed. This relationship is one of equality and NOTHING is taken or expected from it by either side. Being a transient member of their extended pod, it is accepted that I leave; but upon returning, I am recognized and accepted back into the pod at the same 'level' as I left. I will conclude by saying that I feel very much closer and more welcome into dolphin society than I do in human society. Purity of love, compassion, and trust is a beautiful thing that from my experience, only dolphins possess.
